Contacts for Working Groups

Lboro UCU are working on various campaigns and issues. This page lists contacts for the members heading up each working group. Please contact the listed member if you have any questions about the area of work or want to get involved.

Campaigns Group

The LUCU Campaigns Group is made up of committee members, department reps and members interested in increasing Lboro UCU’s influence through campaigning on issues that matter to our members. The group has responsibility for setting and implementing our campaigning agenda. The more members we have, the more power we have to enact positive changes for staff in our workplace. To get involved or for more information, please get in touch with our Branch Organiser, Callum Salfield.

Palestine Solidarity Working Group

Interested members are encouraged to join this working group, started to progress activity in the area of Solidarity with Palestine following the motion passed at our October 2024 EGM. To get involved or for more information, please get in touch with our Equality Officer .

Workload Project Group

The LUCU Workload Project Group is made up of committee members, department reps and members interested in a fairer, more accurate and more transparent distribution of workload at the University. The group has responsibility for analysing the current Workload Model and Tariffs, and for developing suggestions to improve the situation our overworked colleagues are facing across the University (whether or not they are included in WAMS). Suggestions and findings will then feed into LUCU’s negotiation with the University. The more members we have involved in this work, the more power we have to enact positive changes for staff in our workplace. To get involved or for more information, please contact our Branch Secretary.

Workload Reps

LUCU is recruiting a number of workload representatives. These can, if they chose to do the training, become health and safety reps, with the statutory rights that this entails, but with a special focus on workload, one of the biggest issues facing members.

Workload reps are department representatives who can: work with EDI, H&S, and negotiating committees, talk to members about workload as a health and safety issue, plan surveys and analyse data on working conditions, write newsletter articles, grow visibility, and develop campaigns. They will feed into the workload project group and can become a member of that group if they choose.

We are working on setting up the below focus groups with LUCU Members to better understand their needs and priorities. If you are interested in participating, please message our Branch Organiser, Callum Salfield, with the groups you wish to be included in, and/or keep an eye out in emails and future newsletters for upcoming polls for dates and times.
